Hot on the Trail

Hey Guys,

Just a quick little update for y’all. I know that I have been woefully remiss in my duty as a blogger in the reading and commenting department. Please forgive me. I try to get by but the time issue is rough right now.

Especially since I’ve started a new book and I’m hot on it – like stink on you know what. πŸ˜‰ And it’s really hard to kick the muse out of your head when she is being so kind and helpful and giving you so many things to write down that you’re afraid you simply won’t get it all before she takes off for another 3 month vacation.

So, if you don’t see me visiting much, that’s why. I do lurk and read as much as I can but I know it’s not enough. I’d totally understand if you were annoyed with me too. Really I would. I will try to be better and get by more. I think of all of you, daily, believe it or not and I love that you’re out there – and love so much that you come by and leave a word or two. I promise, I’ll make it up to you.

Much love,

Annie aka WC

  1. Because I’ve been so much better than you on the blogging and commenting part. I am way more awesome than you, A.

Well thanks Red, that’s awful big of you, considering what a pain in the heinie I am. πŸ˜‰

  3. YAY!! back to writing! you know we miss you when you’re busy but then when you do come around again, it’s so WORTH IT!!! We love what you got going on and we’d rather you be busy than not. you don’t function correctly when you’re bored chicka!!

LOL Reggie, now how do you know when I don’t function correctly? Who have you been talking to? πŸ˜†

  4. Shit – I’ve been remiss in my blogging/commenting too, except my only excuse is laziness!

Haha! I just saw Anthony’s comment – he always hits that nail on the head, doesn’t he?

Hey laziness is a good reason – I know because I have used it on many occasions with great success. πŸ˜‰

Yes, our resident British gentleman is quite succinct, isn’t he? πŸ˜‰

  5. ((( Annie ))) Wooo Whooo!! Give the Muse anything S/he wants to stick around!!! Chocolate? Alcohol?

    Hugh Jackman :-D???

(btw…NaNoWriMo starts up in a couple of weeks. I’m going to dive headlong into it again this year….3rd time MIGHT be the charm ;-)..)

    Oh yeah.

What is nanwrimo? Please email me and brief me on this. πŸ™‚

  6. I LOVE that phase of writing a new project, when the Muse seems to be actually cooperating! Happy writing!

    Hey MS,
I love it too – sadly it doesn’t come too often – although new projects do seem to inspire it more. I think it’s the memory of same that enables us to go through the endless editing process afterwards. πŸ˜‰

  7. Well, I can’t be too annoyed with you as I just started coming by. Wait a minute – wasn’t anything I said was it? LOL. You do your creative stuff and tell us about it when you can. I’ll keep popping in and out and of course you are always welcome to lurk or join in whenever you can at my place too. Good luck on your project. πŸ™‚

Oh yeah, Teeni, it was definitely something you said. πŸ˜† I loved that picture you put it, it was really sweet.

  8. Considering I haven’t posted anything decent for several months, I won’t be complaining if you take a holiday to work with your muse. Of course, that doesn’t meant I won’t miss your postings, though. πŸ™‚

Grace is right, NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) is just right around the corner. Since your muse is visiting and you’ve already got a new book underway, maybe you could write your newest one NaNoWriMo style. Basically, you’re suppose to write a book that’s at least 50,000 during the moth of November. I’ve never done it myself, but I know someone who have and my mom and younger sister are getting geared up to do it this year.

What is your newest book about, if I’m allowed to ask that is?

Enjoy writing your socks off! πŸ™‚

    Hey Kelsey!
Thanks for the data on nnanowrimo – I’ll check it out.

The novel is about retired profiler who is pulled back in the game by the sister of a victim and a serial killer.

  9. i participated and succeeded in NaNoWriMo last year. It really is a great way to force one’s self to write daily. i’m gearing up for this year already with the brainstorming and the outlining.

Anyway, it’s wonderful that you’re writing! i knew it would come. i hope the best and all kinds of fire.

    Hey mi amiga, como esta?

So, you’re going to do the nanowrimo too? Now my curiosity is piqued. I’ll definitely have to check it out.

  10. don’t you worry about anything but feeding that muse πŸ™‚ how wonderful!! xox

Aw, thanks D! I really do have to feed her, she is hungry and I’m running out of chips and soda. πŸ™‚

  11. Don’t worry about it. Do what you need to do. Write while you can and have the thoughts pouring out of you! Have fun!

Thanks, Mark. I always appreciate your cheerful and enthusiastic support. You’re a good dude.

  12. My muse has been laying around eating Chee-to’s and smoking menthols. I don’t mind but I wish the bitch would clean up her own mess. Good luck on your muse.

Oh come on now, Fuzz. I’ve seen a picture of your muse and she’s beautiful! Cleaning up after her a little can’t hurt that much. πŸ˜‰

  13. I’ve only just emerged from a long writing session myself, so hope that goes well WC! It’s a great feeling when inspiration strikes, even if everything else starts to go to hell. πŸ˜‰

I think I’ll have to give NaNoWriMo a miss. I’m lucky if I write a chapter a month let alone a whole novel! I remember some people produced some really interesting results last year, though, so I’ll definitely check out some of the results again. Best of luck to everyone. πŸ˜›

    Hey CJ,
It does feel good to just sink into it, doesn’t it? I still haven’t checked out the nana thingie – I wonder if I’ll get invovled. It’s nice to think about but I probably will just watch with interest to see what others do.

  14. Hi WC,

I was for a while, and will be again soon. It’s holiday party season down here, which can take up a lot of time. Last weekend, for example, we had a church service and potluck lunch on our front lawn for 50. The Brit is crossing the ocean for a visit early next month, which will be followed by Thanksgiving, and then, all too quickly, by a series of Christmas parties and, finally, the big Xmas Eve dinner, so, by the end of the year, we’ll have up to 300 guests to feed, booze up, and entertain. While it’s all great fun, it does take up a bit of time, so I’ll be MIA a lot. On the other hand, if you’re going to be in the area, drop me an email and I’ll give you directions. I always cook too much just in case.

    the Grit

    Hey Grit!
Dude, you are serious about your party responsibilities. I would love nothing more to attend one of these soirees and if I’m in the neighborhood, I’ll definitely drop a line. It would be a hoot and a half to gab politics with you and eat bbq at the same time.

  15. By all means, follow the lead of the muse! Thrilled to hear you’ve started on your next book. Yahoo! So do we get a little trailer? a little sneak preview?
    Ah…come on now…

I’ve been buried in work hell and just came up for air. Gasping for a little pleasure –I decided to drop in your blog. You sure haven’t missed posting on anything at my blog. I really need to start a new one, but have other plans before that will happen.

    ~ PG

    Hey Girl!
Glad to hear you’ve gotten your head above water. I sent you an email about the new story – your choice. Let me know.

You could always blog about the novel and your trials and tribulations of same. Could be fun and helpful. πŸ˜‰

  16. Hey,

Okay, I’m hot on your trail every day. I want to read that new book soon.

    Love your blog!

    L. Marli

    LOL Marli,
Yes, you are hot on my trail every day – glad you like the blog and even commented. Tanks, hon.

  17. (((( Annie )))) I see someone has already given you the info on NanoWriMo! πŸ™‚ Awesome! I just posted on the event today…let me know if you decide to do it! You don’t have to start a ‘new’ novel, either! You could continue work on your current project – just start adding up words from November 1…they have a cool (and easy) way to do wordcounting and the interaction with others can be a blast!

    Hey Gracie,
Well now that I finally balanced my checkbook and did my tax returns, I might have some spare time. I still haven’t gotten over there. I think I need a secretary. Any volunteers? πŸ˜†
    WC XO

  18. Excellent for YOU WC. Sorry I never followed up on your idea for me to write to the editor regarding how I feel about pedicures… ha! ha! ha! It’s hard for me to write. All I could come up with were some gnarly pictures of ugly feet that I googled. BAHAHAH! I didn’t think I’d have to write to an editor after that, the pictures spoke volumes! *wink* Enjoy getting lost in your writing. I’m happy for you!

    Hey Bella,
No worries, they were all just for fun, I actually didn’t expect anyone to do them. So, ifyou ever get around to it, then it will be a hoot. and if not pics of ugly feet might be interesting too. πŸ˜‰

  19. Hi WC,

We always have room, or can at least make it on short notice. Oh, and if you are in the area around the 19th of next month, you can meet the Brit while you’re here. Register now and we’ll take you to Graceland with us, and won’t that be a hoot and a half! But wait! As a special bonus you’ll even get to make the pilgrimage in The Dude at no extra cost!

    the Grit

You’re such a doll. Hey man, if my novel sells and I get a big ol’ advance I will for sure be dropping by. What the heck is The Dude?

What do you think?
