  1. This is very nice WC. I hope this means that your first week unemployed is off to a good start?

    Hey Jennifer,
Well, it’s day three of my ‘vacation’ and it’s a little weird but I’m adapting. Gotten a bunch of cleaning and organizing done. And thinking about sharpening my pencils now…Yeah, I’d say it’s good.

  2. Love the picture with the quote. Even in black and white, I can sense the sun shining down onto the tall grasses. It’s a hauntingly beautiful pairing. Hope all is going well in WriterChick-land! 😉

    Hey Teeni,
That pic is a great find, isn’t it? So far, all is well in WriterChickland.

  3. Beautiful sentiment! Just what I needed to be reminded of… Within and without! – C

    Hi Care!
I really loved the quote, a friend sent it to me – and I’d never seen it before. It’s really something when you consider who said it – I mean, hell, if this girl could have felt that way, with all of the troubles in her life, seems the rest of us could cooperate too, doncha think?

  4. It is a lovely photo. Lovely sentiment. Oh that I would always or even 75% of the time think pure and lovely thoughts, and seek to do good things. Dang, I’d almost be Purrr-fect WC.

Seriously, you are right. Should just cooperate, or at least try.

Sometimes we tend to take our blessings and abundance for granted. Thanks for sharing this.

Yeah, we do and I’m a terrible offender myself. I try to keep the whining to a minimum but it ain’t always easy. 😉

  5. Lovely…

Hope you days are filled with peace. i have had something on my mind since I read a post of yours. It’s about you cat. I have been wondering if it has boogies up it’s nose because it sleeps on the heater.

AND! PS. You got a funny looking cat there Miss Chic.I’ve had this on my mind for a couple of weeks now. It’s funny what sticks with you isin’t.

Like Gimp Melons. hehe! I thank you so much for that inprint. I’m rambleing and it’s got nothing to do with you post. Sorry.

Smiles and happiness always even when It’s not always very pretty.

    🙂

    Aw Di,
you’re so sweet. I don’t mind the rambling, I do it myself, often. My kitty is a cutie in a weird Felix kind of way and she has her own unique personality to be sure. It is amazing though that she will tolerate my digging around her nose with a Qtip. I think she thinks I’m here mommy or something. 😉

  6. I think a lot of her wisdom came of having nothing much else to do than sit and think. If you are very limited in what you can occupy your mind with, one has little option but to turn inwards.
Having said that, not everybody would have remained as positive as she did. Goes to show that people need to have hope.

    I agree, Spaz,
Given her circumstances she had to live an internal world. It just goes to show what a mind is capable of, even in the most dire of circumstances.

  7. Oh, Anne Frank! One of my most favorite books and movies (the black&white original, not the one with Melissa Gilbert) of all time.

It makes my gripes and depression and bitterness seem pretty assclowny- which is good. Man, talk about perspective…

    Hey Chica Chica,
You know, I don’t think I ever saw the original black and white movie – I must see if I can find that.

Oh yeah, most definitely perspective – so much so, it makes me feel like a whiney brat. 😉

  8. The original is beautiful. Definately check it out.

i can’t belive i didn’t include The Diary ofAnne Frank on my list of books young women should read before leaving high school- only i’m pretty sure it’s required reading already. i read it in eighth grade and cried several times while doing so.

I will, I will. I read it in junior high too. I should try to find it again.

  9. I thought that Anne Frank was too busy hiding from nazis to go outside…

    Oh DT!
Read a little depth into the text – think about it, honey.

  10. This story made me think about a story that I read recently about the tree mentioned in Anne Frank’s diary had to be chopped down as it had died from disease. I bet she never realized that her words would live longer than the tree.

What a poignant thought, Evyl. I’m sure she would have been very surprised too – to find out that her words were known worldwide.

  11. Ah, I loved Anne Frank and her book. I just wished she’d written more. Thanks for the quote and the photo of the little girl and especially, the smile today.

    Peace, love , everyday.

Yes, I wish she’d written more too. I often wonder what would have become of her if she and her family had just been able to stay hidden a bit longer. I think she would have become a very prolific author and/or a teacher.

  12. The Freedom Writers movie stars Hilary Swank and Patrick Dempsey and is available from Netflix or whereever you get movies these days… It’s about a teacher of freshman english and she reaches the kids with the story of Anne Frank. I have not read the book which is more a collection of the real stories these kids live on the streets of LA.

    Hey CC,
I think I did hear of that movie, I think I just never heard what it was about. I will have to see if I can rent it soon. Thanks for the heads up.
