I love books and can’t get enough of them. I have books everywhere, in baskets, on shelves, under the bed, in the bathroom, livingroom and kitchen and don’t have room for one more – yet, whenever I see a book I want, I get it and worry about storage later. One of the things I love to do with books is to pass them on. Though, I always retain copies of the books I love more than life, typically, when I’ve finished a book, I either give it to a friend, take it to the library used book store or donate it to a church, thrift store or other outlet that can use or wants books. To me, there is no greater gift than a book, they impart knowledge, experience, adventure, entertainment, and introduce whole new worlds to the reader. Seriously, what’s not to love?

Hey, you know that book “Stranger in a Strange Land”? I’m only on page 25 (I’m a very slow reader, and I had to go back a few times to re-read because it has a rather complicated start, at least to me) – – man, did it give me a wild dream the other day. What a magnificent preface to the book! No wonder it gave me such an intense dream, the idea behind this book can take off anywhere, I’m excited to learn where it goes. I’m off to read some more, thanks Annie 😉

I’m so glad to hear that you are enjoying Stranger – it is an amazing book – so original. It was written before either of us were born, yet to me, it has always seemed timeless. I hope you come to love the book as much as I have.

this year, I joined Bookmooch.com to give that steady stream of books an outlet. So far I’ve gotten many PD James trade paperbacks and lent them to my mom after reading them. I also found homes for many books I don’t want anymore.
Then I went to the local library sale and bought more!

Yeah do check out the book thingie. As to the pic, I find them everywhere. Sometimes people send them to me in emails or I just happen upon them. Whenever I find a pic I like I just save it to my photobucket account and then when I need one, I look over what I have – or go find another. If there is a particular pic you’re looking for, let me know – I may have something.

I love the smell of bookstores. There is a very specific scent that exudes comfort and makes you want to curl up in a big comfy chair. Of course, now that most bookstores also sport a coffee shop is enough to make me swoon at the smell.
I recently moved into my boyfriend’s house, and now the poor man has books in every room. On coffee tables, on the floor, the bedside tables (his and mine!). Heck, I’ve even taken over his boat with my books. My problem is, I have started every single one of those books. It really is my intention to pick one and stick to it until the end, but they are all so interesting.
Books I keep to re-read: Heart of Darkness, The Stand, A Man For All Seasons, and this fabulous book my mother read over and over again since she was a child, until I surreptiously walked off with it one day, called Mrs Mike.

I’m addicted to the smell of books. It’s smells like home. And the funny thing is that I have always been. I started reading when I was four and haven’t really taken my nose out of books since. Your boyfriend sounds like quite a guy, letting you trail your books hither and yon. Careful about all the books in the boat though, you wouldn’t want to tip her. 😉

OK, seriously, books are precious, especially OLD books (nothing like the smell). I wonder, though, if in the age of the internet the book will go the way of the dinosaur. I sure hope not.

Hey Smith, come join us in the 21st century. 😉 We do collect shoes and books and frogs and sometimes even men.
I doubt seriously that the internet will ever completely replace books. Though I do think Print on Demand will become increasingly more popular and may turn into consumers printing their own books. But the concept of curling up with a computer in a big comfy chair to read a good book I don’t think runs very well. A paperback is so much easier to read in bed or take with you to the park, you know?

Oh, my local library has a used book store. Paperbacks are 5 for $1 and hardbacks range from 0.25 – $2 – for five bucks you can get about a month’s worth of reading if not more.
