10 Reasons Why it's Good to Take a Week Off Blogging

Hey everybody, I’m back and thanks to all the fabulous guest posters who gave me the time off I needed last week. You’re all wonderful bloggers and good friends and I appreciate it more than you know.

So, the week was good for me and I’ve realized that every now and again it’s good to take some time off from the routine and here are a few reasons why:

1. Eventually you run out of recipes and need some time to find some new ones.

2. Your hands are not really intended to take on the shape of crawling crabs and it is much easier to smoke when you can extend your fingers.

3. You occasionally need a day when the thoughts, “I am so blogging this,” “what the hell am I’m going to post today?”, “Why doesn’t YouTube have decent vids anymore?”, and similar thoughts aren’t dancing around your brain.

4. The sun is shining, the flowers are blooming and your eyes can indeed adjust to natural light again if you just give it a a day or so.

5. Reading an actual book doesn’t make your eyes hurt and can easily be taken to a park, a chair, the backyard or the beach without missing a thing.

6. A day without email can be filled with adventure and new discoveries instead of viagra ads and old jokes and get rich quick schemes.

7. Life has a beautiful rhythym of its own and everything does not have to go at lightning speed and sometimes it’s better when it doesn’t.

8. Barbecues in the backyard, stars in the sky, nightblooming jasmine, hummingbirds at the feeders.

9. New ideas come unexpectedly and allow your mind to grow.

10. Sleeping is a good thing.

Granted, not one of my usual funny lists – though that was my original thought. But the mind goes where it wants to sometimes.

  1. i think this is a terrific list and good advice. i’ll be taking a week off the end of August. (Still doing Theme Fridays, though. No worries. ๐Ÿ™‚ )

i’m glad that you’ve had a chance to relax and be refreshed.

    Hey Chica,
You know it’s interesting – yesterday I went outside and peered into the garden, delirious to discover all these lovely ripe and yummy veggies and ended up being out there for quite a while. And I realized I hadn’t been for a few days – really outside (no instead sitting in the glare of a computer screen, writing, reading being mesmerized). You know what I mean? And after a few minutes I actually felt something inside kind of pop up in a good way. And though, gee, you really need to do this a lot more. The world around you really is quite beautiful if you just look at it, eh?

  2. And so it should! This is a great list and exactly how I felt while I was on vacation. It doesn’t have to be funny to be a good post, Annie. Your posts are always good. ๐Ÿ™‚

    Hey Teens,
Yeah I’ll bet it was something else for you to get out and go to a wonderfully exotic place and just groove on that. We get so glued to our computers that we forget that life actually surrounds us, don’t we? And thanks for saying that about my posts – I appreciate that. I really do.

    Hugs,

    Hi Mallory & welcome,
I suppose there is a lot to be said about living serenely – it’s definitely good for the heart and soul. Glad you enjoyed the post and hope to see you again.

  5. I love this beautiful post by beautifuly rested annie. It made me smile(crawling crab fingers) Hehe!! then (nightblooming jasmine and humming birds at the feeders)aww! I felt really romantic with that line. Hope you feel a bit better dear annie. Can I tell you a little story.

At weekend as we know I went to a festival it wasn’t to great for a few reasons.

    However !!

Whilst puting my tent up I relaized that the company hadn’t put tent pegs in the bag. Rather than worry about not having a tent to live in for the next four days I was worried that I had wrote on a blog that the tent was absoutly brillinat for 20 quid and I recommended it.I was singing the tent’s priases beyond belief and told everybody to go out and buy one.

I didn’t know what to do.

I pulled my best friend Adele to one side and told her what I was thinking and how affected I felt and how ridicilious that my mind is more pre-occupied with the blogging aspect of this tent that ME having some-where to live.

She just looked at me and shook her head with a kinda pityful smile and told me to move my arse and go and borrow tent pegs of people.

It’s a world isin’t it and Yes ! Annie we are BEAUTIFUL. I’m not so beautiful at the moment but YOU are.

    Love
    Di x

    Hi Di!
I love that you always have a story for me. The tents stakes was pretty funny – hope you were able to borrow a few. Yes, I have finally gotten some rest, much needed to be sure. I look forward to much more because there has been a lot of frantic writing as well – which sometimes does, believe it or not keep one up nights tooling away. I’m not sure I’m so beautiful myself right now – it’s a thousand degrees and I’m running out of clothes to change into. Oy.

  6. WB! You may not have intended to be funny, but I laughed at #2 anyway.

Hey 30! Well it would be funny to someone who has suffered, lol. So I guess we’re both in the same boat, eh? WB? Is that my new name or a code I don’t know? ๐Ÿ˜‰

  8. Sometimes the need to re-charge is not a laughing matter. This weekend, the Lion and I had our first ever ‘longer than one hour’ tiff with one another. Turns out what we really needed was a complete battery recharge. Four hours on the boat and we are as good as new.

    Hey Panther,
I’d have to say that four hours on a boat would probably cure just about anything that ails you. Sounds lovely, actually. I relax instantly at the sound of water- rivers, lakes, oceans, heck even the bath tub. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  11. Good to have you back Annie ๐Ÿ™‚ It sounds like you really enjoyed the time off. And I laughed at No 2 too – although as well as the hand problem I have to go outside, and at this time of the year its freezing out there. Almost (but not quite) enough to make you think about quitting.

    Hey Gem!
Thanks. Wow, that is cold. Criminy, I thought you guys lived in the tropics. Curious. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  12. I love this post. It just proves the old adage that sometimes you have to take time and smell the flowers, or something like that. That’s why I have been going to the beach with my daughter. Just to relax and watch the thieving dumbass seagulls.

    Hugs & Jugs
    Joanie

    Hey Joanie,
Ms. celebrity, you. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Yes, smelling the roses and watching the dumbassess, apparently ๐Ÿ˜‰ You cwack me up – even sea gulls can be dumbasses, eh?

  13. Glad you’re back, Annie…and hope you had a restful week. Eek. I can’t imagine taking a break from blogging. But, seeing as I’ve only been doing it for a little under a year I haven’t felt the need for a break. Plus, my computer is attached to my lap at all times, I think I’d get laptop withdrawal,ha! Sadly, it is my lifeline to the rest of the world – outside of my little country bumpkin world, that is!

    Hey Two!
I couldn’t imagine it in my first year of blogging either – but it will be two years for me in three days. So, maybe as you approach your second anniversary – you won’t be so attached to your laptop. LOL.
    Good to be back.
