The Reasons…

There are many reasons that I live in California…chief among them is the sense of eternal summer. Well at least compared to the midwest where I grew up – breathing ice in the winter, sludging through mud in the spring and sticky sweltering in the summer (the autumn was nice but way to short). But I’ll tell you when I’m feeling down and everything seems like total shit there is nothing like this to make you feel like all is right and beautiful in the world. Kind of neat that I have only to look out the back door or down the street to see this, huh? WC

  1. it’s gorgeous! whereabouts in CA do you live? i’ve been to mt. shasta. my sister lived in Shasta for a while. now they are in Twain Harte, near Modesto. it’s so great there!

Mt. Shasta is quite a bit north of me. I live in Sunland – on the ourskirts of L.A. – in the foothills of the San Bernardino Mountains.

  2. Wow lucky you..I had heard about CA a lot but never had chance to visit hopefully soon…

Oh Eka, you would love it. Like any place, there are parts that aren’t so great – but so much of it is breathtakingly beautiful. And on a perfect summer night the moon is full, the stars blanket the skies and the scent of night-blooming jasmine and orange blossoms sweeten the air.

  3. Beautiful!
Beats the view we used to have on the wrong side of Pasadena doesn’t it?

Now I’ll never convince you to come up to the Pacific Northwest

LOL. You mean slum we used to live in? Oy! And remember how we could never get anything to grow there? All the flowers we planted and that died? So sad.

Oh the Pacific Northwest is beauty personified. It’s just the darn rain that has me spooked. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  4. Oh yeah, I can totally relate to this…it’s hard to not be happy when the sun seems to smile on you all the time isn’t it? And the best bit? Each and every day is unique.

Yes you’re right Kel. I love it out here. My normal view is so gorgeous, it makes me feel sorry for those that don’t have such beauty to look at daily.

  6. Awww. Lucky. I look out my back window and I see the alley and a fence.

Oh poor Lass! I’ve lived in places like that – where the view was nothing. I feel lucky everyday to have such beautiful things to look at and have as part of my world.

WC…aw, but I DO remember the Cali scenery..it is a beautiful place….Was lucky enough to have lived in both Northern and Southern Cal, both have their beauties, but So.Cal is the best IMO.

Yep Billie, California is hard to beat in the scenery department. And MI does suck this time of year.

  9. Reminds me a bit of New Hampshire.
I imagine the elevations are much greater out west…
    ~m

Yeah the big trees and the intense color the leave turn remind me of the midwest. The elevation is about 2100 feet, I don’t really know if that means anything or not. Also, I’m near mountains so I think that affects the weather, cloud patterns and stuff. LOL – I just know that I love it.
