I’ve Got Some Cards, Let’s do a Swap

Saturday, I spent the day Christmastizing the house. Starting with the 7 1/2 foot tree and working my way out. Exhausting but oh so gratifying. This is my favorite time of year and so it was a labor of love. The livingroom is now so much more festive and inviting and there is something about a decorated, sparkly Christmas tree that gives warmth to a space. Naturally, Roomie and I had to watch a Christmas movie to celebrate. We selected The Santa Clause from my ever-growing collection. It was a joy to watch. And for some reason that movie always makes me fall in love with Santa and makes me think big guys are kinda sexy. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Then Sunday, I started my annual tradition of the Christmas card writing. I love writing the cards because often it is the only time of the year I touch base with certain people in my life. It’s not intentional of course, but with the normal day to day grind it’s so easy to put off getting in touch with Aunt Edna or cousin Suzie. As I was writing the cards I had an inspired idea (at least, I thought it was inspired, but lately it takes so little to inspire me) – I thought, ‘how cool would it be to exchange Christmas cards with all my blogging buddies?’

I have to say I really love the idea and I’m hoping some of you do too.

So, what do you say? Want to exchange Christmas cards? I know I do.

Anybody who is interested, shoot me an email (you can find my email addy on the side bar to the right) if you want to do the exchange. Of course, I’ll understand if you don’t or don’t have time or the attention span – but I’m hoping some of you do.

Any and all cards I receive I will proudly display on my livingroom wall and after the holidays will go into my blogger scrap book. Yep, I’m starting one of those – hokey I guess, but then that’s me.

So, looking forward to what you think about this. It will be fun I think and since I think of all you guys as my friends nothing would thrill me more than to send and receive cards from any of you.

Love,

Annie (aka Writer Chick)

  1. I don’t normally do cards – I do a newsletter up to four times a year. But what a fun thing to do with your readers!

Otay Teens – I’d be willing to swap a card for a newsletter – whaddaya think?

Just as an interesting aside – I was in one of my favorite used bookstores today and I saw a little book of photographs by Lewis Carrol. I so wanted to get it and send it to you. Isn’t that funny? ๐Ÿ˜‰

  4. Do you really have an aunt Edna? That’s what i want to know!

This year, we got to chop down our own tree! It was fun. Then we went to neighboring Ashland- the whole city’s lighted up. (And some assclowns are complaining because this festivus is melting the polar ice caps. It’s Christmas. Extreme is extreme- no matter which end of the spectrum, but i do prattle on. And this is sans egg nog, girl!)

Anyway, i know what you mean. Once the tree is nestled and adorned it just feels so cozy and magical.

Well…er…ah…no, I don’t really have an Aunt Edna but close. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Wow, that must be cool to chop down your own tree. I’ve always had fantasies of such things.

And hey, do you wanna swap Christmas cards, cuz I would love it. Email me. Otay?

  6. You are too cute, WC! And just for that – yeah, I’ll trade you a newsletter but it will have more personal info than I usually include on my site so I’ll have to swear you to secrecy (or kill you after you read it, your choice) and it will most likely come out after the holiday. So if that’s okay with you, then we are on and I’ll go trade addresses with ya. ๐Ÿ™‚

    Hey Teeni,
My lips will be sealed with festive christmas tape. ๐Ÿ˜‰

But you have to email me with your addy, otay?

  7. Oh dear, Annie, I hope you know what you’ve signed up for. Knowing how much you are liked and how big your reader circle is, I have a feeling many will love to drop you card.
I follow my grandparent’s and mother’s tradition of hanging all the christmas cards up an a red velvet ribbon over the fireplace (no – not to burn them them). Nowadays many people don’t send cards anymore. But I still write. And I do get some guilt ridden ones back. ๐Ÿ™‚

    Hey Spaz,
The more the merrier. I have Christmas cards and I’m not afraid to use them. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I love the red ribbon idea – but I would probably botch that – mine will be propped on the mantle and if there are too many be taped to the wall above the mantle. I love doing that.

And btw, send me your address because I am definitely sending you one. LOL. You can run but you can’t hide. ๐Ÿ˜†

  8. Mail on the way..

My house is decorated in a kinda sparkly, fairy like grotto style all the time. I have everything still up from last year but I place them differently in my home through out the year. ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m not that bothered for decorating the tree for reasons I have just stated. I just love having a forest in my living room and I love the smell of the pine.

I’m not to great with occassion cards, I send cards all year round but haven’t managed to teach my brain that you send them for occassions to. Hehe!!
    Smiles and sparkles.

Where are you sending that mail? LOL

I love that your house is like a faery den. Sounds loverly.;)
